Fontana needs to go away, but after Penske unloaded it on NASCAR, they're not likely to admit their mistake, & take the write off. The reason I used to dislike the road courses is that as a Porsche owner, I'd done some RR's on a club level, & I saw the cup cars on a road course like pigs on ice skates. But that was when the only competent RR drivers were Rusty, Ricky Rudd, & the ringers. Now the competency level is much deeper, that makes it much more interesting. As for Kanas we need to get used to it, because with the casino, two dates are here to stay. With the attendance fall off, at Indy, I'd love to see them run the road course, That way the fans could see the race live, rather than on the jumbotron. If you're going to have to watch most of the race on TV anyway, why bother to go to the track? Again, never going to happen, but that still doesn't mean it isn't a good idea.

dawgdawgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1898207420189925101.post-47512018083351635082013-06-26T15:18:22.729-04:002013-06-26T15:18:22.729-04:00 We’re totally in agreement, “Dawg.” Fifteen or tw... We’re totally in agreement, “Dawg.” Fifteen or twenty years ago I really disliked the road course races. It was, to me, simply a parade of billboards. But then, that was a time when NA__AR had more actual race tracks (North Wilks., the old Bristol and Rockingham), and actual stock car racing was in attendance. Now, with the playoff and more cookie cutter tracks, we now seem to have mostly test sessions for Brian Z.’s much hyped playoff season. The road course races, along with Martinsville, now seem to be the only place we can see the type of racing which made NASCAR the country’s number one motor sport. How about dumping one of the Ft. Worth races and moving it to Austin’s new track? Move Joliet to Road America? Move the horrible Fontana venue up to Laguna Seca? And doesn’t Topeka have a decent road course? I seem to remember the CTS running there a couple of times. The racing there couldn’t be any worse than what the fans are treated twice a season at Kansas.
